Some ICTSB members combined their effort and worked on Digital Right Management (DRM) and Network and Information Security (NIS).
Work on NIS is continued by ICTSB/NISSG.
Health care is becoming an intensive user of ICT. ICT in health care is referred to as eHealth. The ICTSB has not yet established a dedicated Working Group for eHealth but follows with advice the standardization activities including those requested by the Commission's standardization mandate.
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is being used in a lot of applications beyond traditional retailer applications. The standardization topics are going beyond the radio aspects and related protocols of tags and readers; they have to consider the complete range of RFID systems with the ID management and the security and privacy aspects. The ICTSB follows the standardization activities and those related to legal aspects of RFID applications.
SmartHouse is addressing home networking and applications for home management and entertainment. The ICTSB has established a Working Group called ICTSB/SHSSG.
eEurope was an initiative by the European Commission to promote ICT in the field of bussiness and home applications. It was pushed for a deep penetration of the Internet in an accessible manner in all parts of the society.
Meanwhile the initiative had been overtaken by the eInclusion initiative.
The accessibility to ICT is in the interest of all contributers to ICT applications and services. The ICTSB has a strong interest in this standardization work and has therefore established a dedicated Working Group called ICTSB/DATSCG.
Design for All aims at a design which is usable for almost all users with or without impairments. However, in some cases Assistive Technologies need to be specified to address specific severe impairments. The report given here discusses design requirements for some ICT application sand services.
Converging Technologies is a term which is widely used in areas where different or similar technologies address the same market segment. Typical examples are the convergence of consumer electronics and telecommunications with a wide range of different services provided in combined equipment interconnected to a range a different networks and e-business with secure transactions.
ANEC as an ICTSB observer represents the consumer interest in standardization. Their standardization requirements got the way into standardization also via the ICTSB.
