The project shall develop the necessary standards to provide a minimum set of capabilities to interconnect networks in order to obtain a seamless federation of networks to cater for all services of the EII. This interconnecting network (EBTN) shall be based on ATM technology.
The following tasks shall be carried out: definition of the concept of EBTN including what kind of connections between the dedicated networks are desired, definition of information flow across relevant interfaces, specification of necessary NNIs and IWUs etc.
