EESSI Seminar was organised on 8 May 2001 in the Training Centre of the Communication Authority of Budapest, Hungary. The aim of this Seminar was to present and discuss the first set of EESSI specifications, resulting from the mandate given by the European Commission and EFTA with the objective to establish a consistent and coherent implementation all over Europe of Directive 1999/93/EC on a Community framework for electronic signatures.
Despite the already good involvement of the European Community and EFTA countries, it was also important to inform and involve partners in CEECs (Central European and Eastern Countries), especially those countries that are involved in current accession negotiations.
In this context, were organised two panels where experts and regulators from CEEC countries exchanged views with the EESSI Steering Group Members.
