1 Objective

The ICTSB has established the ICTSB/ITSSG as an ICTSB Working Group to ensure effective co-ordination between the various ICT-related standardization activities in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS).

2 Objectives

To act as an overall focal point for the European standardization community on ITS by:

3 Membership

The membership is open to all ICTSB members and observers and to other European organizations and associations with an interest in ICT standardization in the field of ITS, subject to the agreement of the ICTSB members.

The member organizations and associations of the ITSSG nominate one or two representatives for the participation in the work.

The ITSSG may add new members at any time in consultation with the ICTSB.

It is expected that member organizations actively participate in meetings and provide written updates on their activities related to the scope of this group. Inactivity may lead to cancellation of the membership.

Membership is free of charge and all expenses are carried by the individual member.

4 Chair

The ITSSG nominates a Chair for endorsement by the ICTSB. The terms of office are two years. Re-nominations are possible.

5 Secretariat

The ITSSG receives secretarial support from one ICTSB member that names a person who provides the support.

6 Working Methods

The ITSSG works on a voluntary basis by consensus. Controversial issues should be brought by the Chair to the ICTSB.

Any decision or recommendation taken is not binding to a member organization or association.

The ITSSG meets physically on invitation by the Chair. Regular physical meetings should be limited to 3 meetings per year. Extraordinary meetings may be held on request.

The Chair may invite guests or other liaison representatives to the meetings. Guests and liaison representatives are not part of the consensus-building process.

Liaisons with non-member organizations may be established, e.g. research projects, non European organizations or associations.

Liaison activities should seek information exchange on related standardization activities.

The tools for electronic working for the ICTSB shall be used. The Secretary maintains a mailing list for e-mails and one with complete contact information.

The documents of the ITSSG are placed on an FTP-server which can be accessed by the nominated representatives of the member organizations and associations and all ICTSB members.

An e-mail archive is accessible to those who are on the mailing list and the administrators.

The Chair represents the ITSSG and reports on the activity at the ICTSB plenary meetings.

7 Information distribution

Documents of the ICTSB and its WGs are not publicly available.

Documents for publication by any means need an endorsement of the ICTSB.

The ICTSB maintains a web site which provides general information on its activities. This includes information from the Working Groups.

The ITSSG may ask its members to speak at conferences and other events as a representative of the ITSSG. The content of the presentations should be made available to the ITSSG before the event.
